Tour life may be exhausting but it’s also the best thing ever. I get to connect with people who love my music multiple times a week. I realized recently how important it is to have a weekend off regularly, but I still work hard to be built for this life and recover right to stay sharp. Giving up normal lifestyle and a normal schedule is something one just has to be at peace with. Goodbye birthdays and holidays. But the highlight is the reward that comes from sharing a connection on the dancefloor with fun-loving folks, and to be able to give that energy to the crowd is the best.
And highlights?
Speaking of tour life, so many highlight moments in the past year. Recently I went back to back with Funk Tribu for a recorded set. For months the fans were so hyped it, the crew video crew was set up for it, and of course I almost miss it. Landing in Amsterdam airport only 30 minutes before start time was scary. I learned through this that the best way to get rid of pre-show nerves is to be sprinting to the stage with your luggage. Now an 18kg-backpack-sprint through Amsterdam airport has been an almost weekly occurrence since.
What’s an essential on a Bad Boombox artist rider?
Besides a banana (emphasis on assuring that it’s yellow), I have a salami & cheese baguette on my rider. A salami & cheese baguette is more than just a sandwich. It’s an amalgamation of sterile ingredients into a perfect and neatly arranged cylindrical representation of stability and serenity amidst such a chaotic world.
How are you feeling about the london festival debut this September? So stoked! I know everyone says that but I truly think London has some of the most fun and openminded people with an equally wide music taste that I absolutely love from my perspective. Combine that with a dope festival and dope stage and I’m a supremely happy lad. Looking forward to Maiden Voyage already and meeting all my lovely London fam there. See you soon!
